Discover and Avoid Hidden Obstacles to Lasting Weight loss

Did you know that…

  • 95% of people who lose weight on a crash diet will regain it back.

  • Nearly 65 percent of dieters return to their pre-dieting weight within three years

  • And many people despite trying so many diets never actually achieve their perfect weight

You don’t have to be one of these.

So, what I am going to do is share with you some of the very common mistakes people make, unknown obstacles people face and misconceptions or incorrect information that may be sabotaging your weight loss or adding to your weight gain, just like I have seem with so many of my clients over the past 3 years. These very challenges, I believe, are part of the major causes of statistics like the ones above.

As a medical doctor, who has personally lost over 15kg in a short period of time and who has successfully helped hundreds of people lose hundreds of kilos and especially learn how to keep it off, I have also had the opportunity to learn and witness the challenges that face many people trying to lose weight, the mistakes they have made and what obstacles people face knowingly or unknowingly.

My objective here is to ensure that you have every advantage you can to be successful and that you have all the help you can get on your journey to your perfect health. You don’t want to have some unknown obstacles sabotaging you or keeping you from achieving your goals. Are you ready?

I thought I should quickly highlight some of the hidden obstacles to weight loss. The problem with many weight-loss programs is that they focus only on the amount of food eaten and/or the number of calories burned in during exercise. But that’s just not enough. That approach ignores the underlying causes of obesity that may be medical or physiological and the hidden obstacles to overcoming them. The following is a list of some (and by no means all) of the unseen hindrances that can complicate any weight-loss program:

High Toxicity levels in the body – Many of us are exposed to tens of thousands of toxic chemicals in the environment as well as in the food we eat and the drinks we consume. While our bodies have a natural detoxifying process, many experts believe that this system becomes overwhelmed by chemicals, which can lead to a congested liver, and a large belly. Many toxins are also stored in fat cells and so release of those fat cells many times is dependent on first removing toxins from these cells. A toxic body usually will not lose weight even with a lot of effort. A detox must therefore be the foundation of any lasting and effective weight loss program

Hormonal Imbalances

Insulin - You have Insulin resistance (unstable blood sugar). Insulin is a hormone that controls blood sugar and is linked to hunger and weight gain. Highly processed carbohydrates like bread, juice with sugar, soft drinks, cereals, mandazi and the like are lacking in usable nutrients. Constantly eating these fake foods puts you in a cycle that can lead to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is the state that leads to diabetes. Very many people though not diabetic have insulin resistance. This can lead to craving of sugar and large belly sizes. Unfortunately many people with insulin resistance do not realize it and so when on a program fail to control their cravings.

Thyroid – You have a slow thyroid. The thyroid gland is responsible for producing hormones that regulate metabolism. When the thyroid becomes underactive, it results in a condition called hypothyroidism or low thyroid, which in many people goes undetected. Weight gain is common and people with low thyroid can have a hard time trying to lose weight. People with thyroid problems can literally find it impossible to lose weight even on juice fasts and very restrictive diets. It is important to have your thyroid gland checked especially if you are a lady above 35 years or if you seem unable to lose weight no matter what you do.

Vitamin D deficiency

Many people (men and women inclusive) are deficient of Vitamin D and yet are not aware of how dangerous, vitamin D deficiency can be. Many common health problems including obesity are linked to this deficiency and yet obtaining adequate vitamin D is can be achieved. After checking over many patients in the last few years, I have realized that over 95% of people are vitamin D deficient. It is therefore imperative that you take a vitamin D supplement if you want the best results with your weight loss program.

Inadequate sleep – Not getting adequate sleep can keep you from losing weight. Studies on sleep deprivation have shown that it can lead to metabolic and endocrine changes, including decreased insulin sensitivity, increased levels of hunger. These metabolic and hormonal changes can lead to over-eating, weight gain and obesity. It is recommended to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night if you are struggling with your weight.

Trying to lose weight on your own. For you to be successful in any endeavor, you need to be able to have honest support to see you through. I have seen many of my clients start off with great enthusiasm only to fall by the wayside after a couple of days or weeks when they go at it alone. But when a support system was in place, and where people were able to share experiences, challenges as well seek motivation from like-minded people; they usually stuck with the program and achieved remarkable results. One of the post weight loss program surveys showed that one of the features of the program that clients really appreciated the most was the fact that doing the program as a group and with support buddies really ensured they stuck to their goals and remained committed. I encourage you to always have a support system, whether it is a friend, spouse, partner or even workmate. But the very best is when you do it as a group.

But the good news is that these challenges that could have been holding you back can be easily removed and managed to get you losing quickly.

I recommend that before they embark on any kind of program, you evaluate whether any of these could be an obstacle to you and find a way to unlock these barriers beforehand. It may require that you be evaluated to determine if there are any hidden barriers. This may include an initial medical evaluation, a standard blood test to evaluate individual hormonal balance, taking a vitamin D test or supplement as well as assessing any medical reason(s) that could prevent you from achieving successful weight loss.

I know that you too may need help with this.

And that is why we have seen so much success with people just like you who have made the commitment and followed our proven weight loss programs.
