I hope this newsletter finds you in great health. A few days ago, I shared a newsletter on the benefits of mushrooms. If you missed that, you could read it on my website using this link.
Today I would like to share with you a recipe for one of my favourite detox drinks. In today’s world, we are exposed to so many toxins that sometimes we find ourselves unknowingly struggling to stay healthy. If you feel tired, sluggish, struggle with brain fog, poor immunity and even weight gain especially around your belly, it could be a sign that you are harbouring some toxins in your body.
The truth is everyone needs some occasional help to remove some of these toxins. Today I would like to share with you a simple drink that you can make to help detoxify the body.
I would like you to try and have one of these at least thrice each week but if possible, two glasses each day, first thing in the morning and 30 minutes before your dinner.
The ingredients include
500mls of warm water
½ of a lemon
½ - 1 teaspoon of freshly ground ginger
¼ a teaspoon of cinnamon
1 -2 teaspoons of raw, local honey
Two tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar
Two pinches of cayenne pepper
¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder or freshly ground turmeric (optional)
These ingredients are great for your health. Lemon is high in vitamin C; it helps to create an alkaline environment in your body by balancing your pH and helps to boost your immunity. Ginger, cayenne and turmeric have lots of anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that help to reduce the risk for disease, but they are also good for your digestive health. Apple cider vinegar is good for your metabolism, can help with acid reflux and helps with blood sugar and cholesterol level improvement. Honey provides some natural energy but is also high in antioxidants and antibacterial properties.
Directions;
Prepare warm water (not hot)
Squeeze in ½ a lemon (at least two tablespoon fulls)
Then add all the other ingredients
Add one tablespoon of honey. You could add a second teaspoon but remember honey is high in calories too.
Add a few mint leaves if you wish
Stir up all the ingredients and enjoy the drink preferably when still warm
Doing this often will not only help you detoxify your body but will help to keep your immune system healthy and reduce your risk for frequent infections and even cancer, the one disease we all dread.
