When “I” is replaced by “We”, even Illness becomes Wellness

What a great quote by Malcolm X. When “I” is replaced by “We”, even Illness becomes Wellness. As I pondered on this quotation, I began to realise the power of We over Me. Nelson Mandela always talked about the concept of “Ubuntu” – I am because you are. He also talked about the power of knowledge.

Over the years, I have found that knowledge and awareness are one of the greatest assets to achievement in any aspect of life. Moreover, that goes for being healthy and well too.

Only when people are genuinely aware of the principles of wellness and put them in action, will they truly begin to be well. Unfortunately, many people are not aware of some of this information, and yet they so badly need it and want it.

I have heard many of my patients and many people I have spoken to through the talks I give share testimonies of how their lives have changed by implementing some of the principles to wellness that I share. However, I also see many people continue to suffer needlessly because they do not know about some of these principles to health and wellness. And, I also know many of you who through your own transformations are touching the lives of other people.

So, I would like to challenge you to become an ambassador of health and pass on the information you learn to everyone else you know. This is the only way we can help as many people. And you can help with this.

In a few months, we will be launching a program called Wellness Ambassador, a wellness movement with an objective to spread the word on wellness through each one of us. However, we can all get started now.

I would like to encourage you to take some time to help someone else in need. This can be your family member, your workmate, someone you go to church with or a friend. Do you know anyone who needs to be healthier, eat better, do a bit more exercise or take better care of themselves? Commit to help out of a heart to be genuinely useful.

What can you do?

  1. First, reach out and encourage at least five people who need help. Call them up personally or talk to them face to face and encourage them to take some form of action on their health.

  2. Point them in the right direction. Share a book to read or a video to watch. That could be the spark that will change their lives. Two books have changed me. One called Maximum Achievement by Brian Tracy that my dad gave me to read 20 years ago and one called Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman that my wife’s sister recommended about seven years ago. I would not be writing this email if I hadn’t been touched by my dad and my sister in law.

  3. Be an example to them. If you eat healthily and exercise, it is easier to be an ambassador to others.

I would like to share what I have learnt with as many people as I can, but I am limited in whom I can reach. However, if everyone reaches out to someone, we can create a wave that can have an amazing effect.

As Ronald Regan said, We cant help everyone, but everyone can help someone.

Who are you going to help, touch and inspire today? Make a list of 5 people right now and commit to ensuring that you can reach them.

If you don’t know what to do here are a few suggestions especially about how we can each support someone to move from illness to wellness.

  1. At the very least you can forward them my newsletters and ask them to sign up. Send them this link https://www.drkasenene.com/newsletter-sign-up. You can copy and paste it to one of your whatsapp groups. I share tips that may touch someone’s life.

Our newsletters are free. Take advantage of them. It only takes a few minutes to share the link or to forward the invitation. Do it right now so that you forget to do it later.

2. If you know anyone who is struggling with weight, don’t be shy to offer a helping hand. Refer them to our clinic, and we shall help them. Weight can cause low self-esteem and affect relationships.

3. If you know anyone who has diabetes, high blood pressure, digestive problems or other chronic diseases that is struggling with medication ask them to come and visit us. I believe the body can self-heal if provided the most enabling environment to do so. At Wellcare we have helped many, but many still need help.

4. Encourage them to read the following books.

a). Success Principles by Jack Canfield

b). How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie

c). Eat to live by Joel Fuhrman

5. Lastly, share a personal testimony. If you don’t have one, do something that will allow you to have one.

I would like

to live you with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi that says “Be the change that you want to see in the world.”

I would like to thank all of you who read my newsletters. I hope that they have touched your life in one way or another. I would like to encourage all of you to start sharing information that you are passionate about. Together we can all make a difference in this world.
