Located in Diamond and Pearl's Sinnoh region in Jubilife City, the B-Button League believes that Pokémon can become beautiful and powerful without having to evolve. The two members of the league shown in the anime Oralie and Haley believe in this message so much that they choose to use Pokémon who are amongst the worst without evolution: Magikarp and Feebas. Despite the glaring weaknesses of their Pokémon, the two trainers do prove they have a point, as Oralie's Magikarp defeats Dawn's Piplup and even draws against Ash's Pikachu, which it is weak against.
In the Pokémon games, players can choose to stop their Pokémon's evolutions, regardless of generation, by pressing the B-button once the evolution animation commences. As Reddit user Shiny0ak found, this is clearly what grants the B-Button League its name in the Diamond and Pearl anime, as this borderline fourth-wall break that references buttons would seem unlikely to stem from anything within the anime itself. And thus, fans who play the Pokémon games can enjoy an Easter egg in the anime while the B-Button League itself has set itself up with a pitch-perfect name that's both catchy and entertaining.
